Playground slides are allot of fun for the children but they do have hazards.
Make sure that your child is able to recognize dangerous hazards while playing on playground slides. Slide safety is important to implement whether your child is on the slide at the park or on the one in their backyard. Many times the first thing a child heads for is the playground slide.
Tip 1- When going down the slide, it is important to go down feet first and to never go down head first. This rule should apply for any type of slide, whether the swing set is wooden, metal, or plastic.
Tip 2 – Never allow your children to run up a slide. Running up a slide can lead into a dangerous collision.
Tip 3 – When getting ready to slide, have your child look before they slide and then when they are at the bottom, have them quickly move away from the slide to allow the next child to play.
Tip 4 – On metal playground slides, avoid having your child play on them when the temperature is at extremes (cold or hot). This can prevent frostbite and a serious burn.
There are several different types of outdoor slides that are on the market that come from a variety of manufacturers. Most of the slides feature UV protection and quality high-density material, such as polyethylene. Try finding a slide that is guaranteed not to break down or crack and that is also covered with a full warranty. You shouldn’t feel any rough edges or seams on the slide.
All slides vary in price depending on what type you purchase. There are several double wall types and also free standing ones. The double wall slide is much more expensive and can go over several thousand dollars. However, smaller versions of the double wall slide cost no more than two hundred dollars. The taller it stands and the fancier the design is the more you will have to pay.
Always take into account your child’s age and make sure you purchase one that is appropriate. The smaller and younger children should play on playground slides that are much shorter and that doesn’t require a tall spiral slide to do this. Don’t skimp on quality either; pay the extra price for this to ensure that your child remains safe.
